Constitution
1.Title
1.1.Leeds Adel Carnegie Hockey Club (LA Carnegie) is the Hockey Section at Adel War Memorial Association. Previous names include Leeds Adel Metropolitan Hockey Club and Adel Hockey Club.
2.Aim
2.1.To promote hockey via coaching and match play at all levels, for all ages via Men’s, Ladies, Mixed and Junior Hockey
3.Membership
3.1.Membership of the Hockey Section is conditional upon membership of the Adel War Memorial Association
3.2.Membership of the Hockey Section is open to any person completing a membership application form and paying the required fee as identified by the annual general meeting
3.3.It is a condition of membership that all senior members attend and support at least one Junior Training session per season
4.Annual General Meeting
4.1.The Annual General Meeting shall be held at the end of June for the presentation of reports and accounts and the election of officers and any other business. Notice in writing of such meetings shall be given to by the Honorary General Secretary to each member at least fourteen days prior to the meeting
4.2.The financial year end shall be the 30th April
4.3.At the Annual General Meeting the following officers shall be elected to serve for one year, but to be eligible for re-election:
a)To be elected by all members present and voting:
i.Chair
ii.Honorary Secretary
iii.Honorary Treasurer
iv.Representative to the Council of AWMA
v.Honorary Social Secretary
vi.Honorary Ground Secretary
vii.Honorary Auditor
viii.Mixed Team Secretary
ix.Mixed Team Captains
x.Junior Section Co-coordinator
b)To be elected by the lady members
i.Captains for each of the ladies teams
ii.Secretary
iii.Treasurer
iv.Fixture Secretary
v.Indoor Secretary
c)To be elected by male members:
i.Captains for each of the men’s teams
ii.Secretary
iii.Treasurer
iv.Fixture secretary
v.Indoor captain
Each captain shall nominate their own vice-captain
5.Executive Committee
5.1.The executive committee shall consist of:
a)Officers elected in accordance with 4(a) other than the Honorary Auditor and Mixed team captain
b)Men’s and Ladies Secretary and Treasurer
c)Co-opted members as required
5.2.The executive committee shall meet when and where it shall think fit. Six members, one of whom must be the Chair, Honorary Secretary or Honorary Treasurer shall form a quorum for the conduct of the business
5.3.The executive committee shall have the power to appoint such sub-committees as it shall deem necessary. Each sub-committee must include one member of the Executive Committee
5.4.Life membership shall be appointed by the Executive Committee
5.5.The President will be proposed annually be the Executive Committee. The President will be eligible for re-election but will serve no more than three years in office. Vice Presidents will also be proposed annually be the Executive Committee. All Vice Presidents will be eligible for re-election
6.Subscriptions
6.1.The annual subscription for members due by the 1st October shall be as follows:
a)Subscriptions of Adel War Memorial Association shall be determined by the Association
b)Hockey Section subscriptions shall be as determined by the Annual General Meeting
c)Levies per match played shall be determined by the executive committee
7.Selection
7.1.Selection of teams shall be by committees consisting of the following
a)Ladies – Team captains, vice captains or their nominees
b)Men – Team Captains or their nominees
c)Mixed – Team captain and vice captain
d)Juniors – by Junior Team Coordinators
Selection committee meetings should be presided over by a chair who shall be nominated by the selection committee
8.Rules
8.1.No rule shall be altered, added to or withdrawn other than at the Annual General meeting, or at a Special General Meeting called for the purpose. Notice in writing of any proposed alteration shall be sent to the Honorary Secretary signed by the proposer and at least two other members. The Honorary Secretary shall give at least fourteen days notice of any proposed alteration to each member. One quarter (25%) of the members (excluding junior members) of the Hockey Section shall form a quorum for the conduct of business at an Annual General Meeting and Special General Meeting
8.2.Ten or more members collectively may call a Special General Meeting for any reason by giving written notice to the Honorary Secretary of the purpose of the meeting, provided they have first attempted to obtain appropriate action on the particular problem from the Executive Committee
8.3.Should an office become vacant during the course of the club year the Executive Committee shall have the power to appoint such other member of the club, being willing to act, as it shall see fit to that office
8.4.In the event of the disbandment of the Hockey Section all surplus assets shall be handed to the Adel War Memorial Association
8.5.Conformity to the above is a condition of club membership
